8 Hours Initial PTA - Powers To Arrest Class
+16 Hours of Training Within 30 days of starting work
+16 Hours of Training Within 6 months of starting work

The Process
Step 1 - Register for Class & Pay $100 Class Fee
Step 2 - 8 Hour PTA Class (held two times each month)
Step 3 - PTA Test (open book given at class)
Step 4 - Finger Printing (Federal, State & Fee) - at Time of Class $75.00
Step 5 - State Application & Fee - Paid to State $50.00
Step 6* - Receive Guard Card From State or Web Site
Step 7 - Within 30 Days - 16 Hours of Continuing Education $200
Step 8 - Within 6 Months – 16 Additional Hours of Continuing Education $200

Total Cost To Getting Your Card

($225 to get card) + ($400 continuing education) = $625 Total

Initial Firearms PermitThird weekend of the month

Instructor fee: $150.00
Additional calibers: $25.00
Range Fees (approx): $40.00
This Class is for the BSIS Issued exposed Firearm permit for armed security guards.

The initial instructor fee is for a single caliber only. If you wish to test for more than one caliber add $25 for each additional caliber.

Example: To test for .38, 9mm and .40, it would cost $150 + $25 + $25 = $200 + range fees.

State fees are solely the student’s responsibility. State fees are established by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS), and may change at any time. State fees are explained in class.

This Class is available for those who already have there exposed firearm permit and need to do their periodic re-qualification or renew their permit.

Baton Certification
Last Saturday of “Even” months
10:30a.m.-7:30p.m.

Instructor fee: $150.00
Permit fee: $50.00

This course offers instruction for certification in the use of straight baton and side-handle batons while employed as a security guard. It involves classroom instruction and actual use of baton. The practical portion is held outdoors, so bring a coat or sun block as necessary.
Students must bring a belt.

Expandable or collapsible batons are done as an additional test for an additional fee.

NOTE: Students receive their BSIS baton permit immediately upon successful completion of the class.
